Our Story

INTRODUCTION

Sprint skating club Kenya was formed in the year 2015 as a college project for the founding icon, Fredrick Otieno. His main objective was to give an equal opportunity to the neglected street children and give them another shot at life through engaging them in the skating sport and this reflected positively in their lives. Eight street children lives were transformed and they agreed to go to school. Several others were united with their families and they join us for skating every Sunday when they are on holidays. Today, the club has grown tremendously to accommodate many more members and its prowess has seen many skaters show interest in being part of our journey.

Sprint skating club currently offers equal opportunities to every aspiring skater who is looking forward to launch his or her career to the professional status. The clubs mission is to reach out to the raw untapped talents of our youths and to help them discover their abilities in the different disciplines of skating and how they can use them productively alongside advising them on life related challenges and how to overcome negative social vices arising from idleness and peer pressure.

Sprint skating club vision is to become a world class organization providing and equipping the young people with the right skills to counter life challenges with courage using their talents and gifts. Sprint Skating Club Kenya is currently made up of more than 55 active members from different regions including Nakuru and Naivasha. This comprises of reformed street children and skaters from different backgrounds.

The club takes care of the street children’s basic needs and their education too. They train and participate in tournaments and our performance is always outstanding and this makes us very happy. We are the best club and other clubs look up to us. Being a club that has no sponsors, we struggle to participate in events and tournaments. Through prayers, hard work, discipline and determination, we plan and attend different tournaments and whoop the most awards than any other club. This has made us more popular locally and a role model too. We have put measures in place to see our club is on the fore front in promoting skating not only in the capital but also in the entire East African skating fraternity.
